At this year’s Consumer Engagement Technology World expo in San Francisco, Insteo added new Apps and features which enhance the customer experience to their mix of leading digital signage content and software. Insteo Display now boasts tighter integration with Facebook, touch-less interaction via a Natural User Interface and Text Message based Reward Programs.
Facebook Enhancements
Insteo launches a completely redesigned Facebook App with new content that mimics the type of interactions found in the web and mobile versions of Facebook. Insteo Display integrates with a location’s Facebook “Deals” to offer direct incentive for a customer to check-in, boosting the store’s Social Media, building customer loyalty, and seamlessly delivering rewards. This allows stores to integrate their Social Media and Point-of-Sale marketing into a single, cohesive strategy.
Natural User Interface
Insteo Display is now integrated with touch-less interactivity. Currently, this is provided via a Microsoft Kinect controller, allowing people to control screen content with natural gestures such as waving or pointing, all without touching the screen or using a controller. Insteo launched this live, for a client installation at the NAB tradeshow in Las Vegas, and has the same demo available at CETW. This demo shows Insteo’s first “proof-of-concept” release, showing basic capabilities.
As controller technology improves and new hardware is released, Insteo is actively building an interactivity layer and library into the Insteo Display system to offer dramatic enhancements to screen control.
“We learned a lot with our recent live demos,” says Jim Nista, Insteo CEO. “It takes people a few seconds to realize that they aren’t using a mouse or iPad, but they understand it quickly. The system performs well with crowds and really draws people in. We’re really excited to keep building on these capabilities for interactivity without the costs of a touchscreen.”
Text Messaging Rewards
For same-visit instant rewards, or next-visit discounts, Insteo launches a seamless text and/or twitter based rewards system. As someone texts or tweets, Insteo Display captures the engagement, and then, on a client determined schedule the system can reply with rewards, discounts or specials. The system can be tailored to provide a more significant reward at specific times – for example providing an instant 10% discount to everyone who participates, and a special 25% to one lucky person every hour. Insteo Display shows the interactions and winner “shout-out” on the in-store screen in conjunction with tweeting or texting back a coupon code to participants.
“Specials are built into Facebook and Foursquare, but not everyone uses those services,” comments Regan Kakoschke, Insteo VP of Business Development. “Insteo Display extends specials and rewards to texts and tweets as well, without the need for special App downloads for the consumer.”
